What is Battlefield RedSec? Battle Royale game explained
Following the announcement of Battlefield 6 Season 1 patch notes, EA has followed up by revealing RedSec is its next major Battlefield game – and it feels very similar to Warzone, a game Call of Duty fans will know well.
Is RedSec free to play?
Yes, Battlefield: RedSec is a brand-new free-to-play battle royale set in the Battlefield universe, releasing October 28 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Developed by DICE, it’s a standalone Battlefield title launching alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1, expanding the franchise into large-scale survival gameplay.
Battle Royale mode
At its core, RedSec is an all-out battle royale featuring squad-based combat, class systems, and the destruction the series is known for.
The game may have other modes – we'll have to wait and see on that front (this page is updating).
Weapons in RedSec
RedSec uses the same weapon roster as Battlefield 6, including all Season 1 additions. That means players will find familiar guns across:
- Assault Rifles: M433, B36A4, AK4D, SOR-556 Mk2, and more
- Carbines: M4A1, M277, AK-205, M417 A2
- SMGs: PW7A2, UMG-40, KV9, SCW-10
- LMGs: M/60, RPKM, M240L
- DMRs & Snipers: M39 EMR, SVK-8.6, M2010 ESR, PSR
- Shotguns & Sidearms: M87A1, 18.5KS-K, M45A1, GGH-22
While the weapons list is identical to Battlefield 6, the meta will likely differ due to RedSec’s battle royale pacing and survival mechanics — similar to how Warzone and Call of Duty have distinct balancing despite shared arsenals.
Expect new loadout trends, recoil control setups, and attachment choices tailored for RedSec’s longer engagements and resource-based playstyle.
Launch Time and Gameplay Trailer
The Battlefield RedSec Official Gameplay Trailer debuts October 28, releasing at the same time as the game itself.
